What are ballot proposals?

Cet automne, cinq propositions de modification de la Constitution de l'État de New York figureront sur le bulletin de vote.

Voters will vote “Yes” or “No” on each of these proposals. If a majority of New Yorkers vote “Yes,” then these changes will go into effect.

Why are they on the ballot?

These proposed amendments are on the ballot because they have been passed by the State Legislature (State Senate and State Assembly) in two consecutive terms. Now it is up to New York voters to decide whether or not to accept them.

You can find in this Voter Guide the official text that will appear on the ballot, summaries of each proposal, and descriptions of what will change if they pass. To help voters see arguments on both sides of every issue, we collected pro and con statements on each proposal from NYC Voters and civic organizations.
